Lambert Paces Vipers To Victory

VERNON, B.C.  DECEMBER 14, 2016

The Vernon Vipers were looking for a big two points against an Interior Conference rival when they hosted the Salmon Arm Silverbacks Wednesday night at Kal Tire place. But the night would be highlighted by the play of #23 Jimmy Lambert who scored four times including a natural hat-trick.

The Vipers would score three times in the opening period including goals from Steve Jandric (2nd star), Christian Cakebreak and Lambert’s first of the game.

Vernon would then go up 4-nothing after Lambert scored his second of the game, a power play marker in a penalty filled second period.

Lambert then would add his third of the night early in the third period to make it 5-0 but Salmon Arm’s Mitch Skapski would break Darion Hanson’s shutout bid with a goal 7 minutes into the third. After a couple of scraps the Vipers found themselves down to 4 defenceman which would allow the S’backs to score a pair of goals to bring the game to within a 6-3 score before Luke Gingras made it 7-3 with a last second goal.

The game was a rough one with both teams getting several power play opportunities with the Snakes scoring on 5 of their 9 chances and the Silverbacks scoring twice on 8 PP chances. Hanson made 33 saves for the win.
