Vernon Defeats Penticton 3-2

PENTICTON, B.C.  NOVEMBER 12, 2016

The Vipers looked to end a 3 game losing streak but knew they’d need a complete effort against a Vees team who had only lost once on home ice all year.  The Vipers got the effort they were looking for and thanks to some big goals and big saves, held on for a 3-2 win.

Despite being shorthanded a few minutes into the game, the Vipers manufactured a scoring chance as Niko Karamanis was sent in on a partial breakaway and slipped home his 9th of the season and third shorthanded goal of the campaign to give the visitors a 1-0 lead.  The Vipers held a 4 minute double minor in the late stages of the period and despite using up more than 3 minutes of it, finally buried one after some nice passing finished again by Niko Karamanis as the Vipers took a 2-0 lead into the dressing room after 20.

The Vipers tacked on early as Steven Jandric slapped in his 8th of the season to make it 3-0.  The Vees chipped into the deficit thanks to two powerplay goals from James Miller and Chris Klack as it was 3-2 after 40.

The Vipers responded well to the adversity late in the second and played a very solid defensive game.  Ty Taylor made two enormous saves to keep it 3-2 and that’s the way it would finish after 60.

The Vipers will welcome the Vees to KTP tomorrow night for First Responders night.

The puck will dropped at 6pm and you can listen live on 107.5 Kissfm starting at 5:45.
