Vernon Hosts Trail 10-21-16

VERNON, B.C.  OCTOBER 20, 2016

The Vernon Vipers look to keep their home ice success going as they take on the Trail Smoke Eaters for the first of seven meetings and the first in a home and home set at Kal Tire Place.

The Vipers are coming off a very complete and emotional 3-2 overtime victory over the Chilliwack Chiefs.

Home ice has been exactly what the Vipers have needed at times as they have yet to lose in regulation and have nine of a possible ten points at KTP.

Ryan Brushett returned to the lineup after a five game absence and made his presence felt with a goal and an assist. The addition of Brushett and Cakebread helped stabilize and balance the Viper forward group.

The Trail Smoke Eaters are coming in following a loss last Saturday to the Nanaimo Clippers, but have played some good hockey, winning four of five, three of those on the road, before the loss to Nanaimo.

The Smokies are led offensively by Luke Santerno. The Smithers product, now in his fourth season, has 9 goals and 11 assists in 14 games played.

In goal, Zach Dyment has done a nice job in his first season in Trail. The 20 year old, aside from a blip against Nanaimo, hasn’t given up more than two goals against in three of his last four starts.
