Vipers Defeat Salmon Arm 4-2

VERNON, B.C.  DECEMBER 29th, 2016

Neither the Vernon Vipers or Salmon Arm Silverbacks showed any sign of having ‘turkey legs’  following a short Christmas break. Both teams skated and played hard with the Snakes coming away with a 4-2 win over the S’backs in part one of a home and home series.

Vernon would open the scoring as Jimmy Lambert would pot his 12th  goal against the Silverbacks late in the period to give the Vipers a 1-0 lead. That would be Lambert’s 8th goal against the S’Backs.  The Silverbacks would tie the game just over five minutes into the middle frame, Elijiah Barriga (3rd star) would score his 18th goal of the year on a pretty deke against starting netminder Darion Hanson. However the Vipers would come back with three unanswered goals from Jagger Williamson, Jesse Lansdell and Christian Cakebread to close out the second period with a 4-1 lead.

The Silverbacks would not give up and would make it 4-2 just six minutes into the third period on a goal by Carter Cochrane. However that’s would be the closest the Silverbacks would come as the Vipers would hold on to win this one 4-2 and improve their record to 19-13-3-and-2 good for sole possession of 2nd place in the BCHL’s Interior Division.
