Vipers Defeat Vees 3-1

VERNON, B.C.  JANUARY 27th, 2017

The Vernon Vipers came out flying and hitting en route to a 3-1 win over the top team in the BCHL’s top Interior Conference team. The Vipers Steve Jandric would open the scoring late in the period on a pass from Jimmy Lambert to give the Vipers a 1-0 lead. That would be all the scoring in the opening period that took less than half an hour to play with both teams getting some quality scoring chances.

In the second period Jandric would strike again scoring his second of the night and this time his other linemate Brett Stapley would set up the goal just over three minutes into the opening frame. Late in the period Austin Adamson would find himself in the perfect spot in the slot to turn and fire the 3rd goal past Vees netminder Mathew Robson.

In the 3rd period with a potential shut-out on the line…the game’s second star Darion Hanson made a number of big saves to keep the score at 3-0 but with just over 2 1/1 minutes left in the game…Penticton’s Grant Cruikshank would score on the power play to break the goose-egg and Hanson’s shut-out bid. Vipers would hold on to win 3-1 and look forward to hosting the Nanaimo Clippers Saturday night at 6pm at Kal Tire Place.
