Vipers In Sole Possession Of 2nd

VERNON, B.C.  DECEMBER 10th, 2016

The Vernon Vipers found their scoring touch as they lit the lamp 6 times en route to a 6-2 victory over the Trail Smoke Eaters and sole possession of second place in the BCHL’s Interior Conference. The Vipers improved their record to 16W-13L-3OTL-1T for 36 points, now two up on the Smokies.

In the first period Cooper Watson would open the scoring for the Vipers on the power play, with his second of the season. Less than three minutes later Kale Howarth would tie the game up with his 19th of the year for Trail. However Vernon’s Riley Brandt and Connor Clouston would each score in the final two minutes to give the Snakes a 3-1 lead.

The second period would see even more Vipers action as Jagger Williamson would pot a rebound off the post and Cooper Watson would score his second power play goal of the game to give Vernon a 5-1 lead after two periods of play.

In the 3rd…Riley Brandt would make it 6-1 at the midway mark while Ryan Moon would give the Smokies one more goal to finish off the scoring.  Vipers went 50% on the PP scoring twice on four chances!

Vernon Vipers goalie Darion Hanson was solid in net stopping 26 of 28 shots while Zach Dyment allowed 6 goals on 38 shots. Vernon Vipers next action will be at home December 14th against the Salmon Arm Silverbacks.
