Vipers Settle For 3-All Tie

VERNON,B.C.  JANUARY 13th, 2017

It wasn’t pretty but the Vernon Vipers will take a 3-all tie against the Salmon Arm Silverbacks. Despite missing several key players from their line-up, the Silverbacks put the Vipers on their heals early in the first period out-shooting the Snakes by a large margin   Austin Adamson would get Vernon on the score board first with a goal at the 8:41 mark. However S’Backs Josh Latta would tie it up late in the period.

In the second period the Vipers came out with more urgency and outgunned their opposition 13-4 in shots but neither team could find the back of the net. Salmon Arm’s Nic Tallarico made several big saves to keep the game tied 1-all.

In the 3rd period…the Vipers had a 10 second breakdown that cost them a pair of goals against. Justin Wilson scored to make it 2-1 and 10 seconds later Latta would add his second of the night to give Salmon Arm a 3-1 lead near the midway mark of the period.

While it looked like the Vipers might let this one slip away…veteran Jagger Williamson would score a couple of quick power play goals to tie the game at 3-all with about 5 minutes remaining in the period to force overtime.

Nothing was settled after two periods of OT with both team getting some chances but neither could pot the game winner.
