Vipers Travel To Salmon Arm (12-9-16)

VERNON, B.C.  DECEMBER 9th, 2016

It’s a rivalry renewed as the Vernon Vipers square off with the Salmon Arm Silverbacks at the Shaw Centre.  These two teams haven’t played each other since the opening weekend of the regular season and will now get very acquainted going head to head four times in 3 weeks.

The Vipers toppled the Silverbacks to start the season with 6-3 and 5-3 victories in a home and home set.  Both teams look extremely different since the opening weekend with many roster moves from both sides including a trade between the two.

The Snakes come in after a loss in Penticton on Wednesday snapping their 3 game winning streak.  It’s a huge month for the Vipers as they play all 9 games in December against the Interior Division.  They hold a 7-6-0-1 record against the Interior and will look to improve upon that record.

Brett Stapley remains red hot for Vernon with points in 8 straight games.  His linemate Jimmy Lambert has points in 4 straight, while Steven Jandric saw his 7 game streak come to an end.

As for the Silverbacks they roll in playing their best hockey of the season.  They’re 6-3-0-1 in their last 10 games and have won 3 straight and all against the division.  4-3 Overtime win in Penticton, 7-2 win at home to Trail then another road victory, but this time in West Kelowna.

They have a new yet familiar voice behind the bench as Misko Antisin mans the helm of the Silverback ship and it seems to have worked.  The Backs made an addition in goal as Nic Tallarico made his debut in Penticton and has yet to see defeat.

This matchup will feature the two cornerstones of a trade as Cameron Trott and Carter Stephenson will get their first looks against their former clubs.

These two teams never lack for entertainment value when they go head to head and Friday should be no exception.

If you can’t make the short trip to Salmon Arm, you can hear the game live on 107.5 KissFM starting at 6:45 or you can watch on HockeyTV.
