Porter Stops 26 as Vipers Shut Out ‘Dogs 4-0

Port Alberni, BC:  It was a night of first and seconds asa the Vipers had first BCHL goals from Nick Cherkowski and Ben Sanderson and Aidan Porter earned his second shut out of the year as the Vipers cruised to a 4-0 win against the Alberni Valley Bulldogs.

The Vipers penalty kill was thrust into action early, but surrendered just one shot on goal.  After that, the Vipers started to find their legs and pushed the pace on the back of their forecheck.  They’d kill off another penalty in the middle of the period, then got back to their game.  They controlled the majority of the period but couldn’t find the back of the net after 1 period.

The Vipers carried their momentum into the second and the offense followed.  Teddy Wooding scored his fourth of the season as he poked a loose puck home at the side of the Bulldog goal.  Shortly after, Nick Cherkowski tipped in a Coleton Bilodeau shot for his first BCHL goal.  Less than three minutes after that, Jagger Williamson kept on a 2 on 1 and ripped home his 5th of the year to make it 3-0.  That would be the end of the line for Cole Demers who was replaced by John Hawthorne.  Things would settle down a bit until the late stages of the period and again it was an odd man rush, this time Ben Sanderson kept and scored his first goal as a Viper to make it 4-0 after 2.

Things got chippy in the third as Alex Swetlikoff tangled with Spencer Hora as the Viper forward defended himself after a few liberties.  The Vipers somehow found themselves in penalty trouble, but the short man was air tight killing off all 4 opportunities the Bulldogs had.  Despite a few more moments of chippy play, the final horn would sound as the Vipers got back in the win column with a 4-0 win.

The Vipers will now travel home to welcome the Salmon Arm Silverbacks for a Halloween SpookTacular on Wednesday!
