Vernon Vipers defeat Cquiltam Express

Vernon, B.C., September 16, 2016 – The Vernon Vipers improved to 3-and-0 on the season, downing the Coquitlam Express by a 4-1 score at Kal Tire Place. .

Vernon opened the scoring on Friday night for the 3rd consecutive game, as Steve Jandric scored his second of the season just  2:39 into the opening period. Then just two minutes later Riley Brandt would score his 3rd of the season beating Coquitlam’s Reid Cooper. Mitchell Oliver would go back door on the power play to make it 3-0 for the Snakes at the 17:06 mark…that would be the veteran defenceman’s 1st goal of the year.

In the second period the two teams would exchange PP goals, Coquitlam’s Luca Leone would score a power play goal that just trickled past Viper netminder Cole Demers to end his shutout bid. Carter Stephenson would add one more for the Vipers to make it 4-1 and lock away the win…as neither team could find the back of the net in the final period.

Vipers Coach Mark Ferner says despite the win the team could have played better:

Vernon out-shot Coquitlam 42-28 and were 2-for-4 on the power play while the Express went 1-for-5.

#1 Cole Demers earned his first regular season BCHL win. Hey says it was good first game:
