Vipers Lose in Chilliwack on Late 3rd Period Goal

Chilliwack, BC:   Sebastian Streu scored in his first BCHL game, Teddy Wooding scored his 3rd of the year and Max Palaga stopped 37, but a late 3rd period goal from Matt Holmes was the difference as the Vipers fell 3-2 in Chilliwack.

Sebastian Streu opened the scoring in the first period as he walked out of the right wing circle and ripped home a shot glove side.  The Chiefs converted on a rush up the ice as Matt Holmes powered around a Vipers defender and flipped a puck under the arm of Max Palaga to tie the game up at 1.  Shots finished 16-11 in favour of the Chiefs.

The Vipers really took the game to the Chiefs, but Mathieu Caron stood tall.  He finished the 2nd period with 19 saves on 20 shots, but the one that got past him came off the stick of Teddy Wooding as he tapped in a centering pass from Coleton Bilodeau.  The goal came shortly after a big penalty kill that save the Chiefs test Palaga a number of times.

In the third, the Vipers were charged with a penalty and after a wild scramble in front of the Vipers goal, Harrison Blaisdell tapped home the tying goal.  The game seemed destined for overtime as both goalies stood tall.  The Chiefs managed to get a 2 on 1 in the final 20 seconds and Kevin Wall set up Matt Holmes for his second of the night as the Vipers lose a heartbreaker 3-2.

The Vipers will welcome Trail on Wednesday night at Kal Tire Place.
