Vipers Retire #18 Crowell’s Jersey

Vernon Vipers Retire Former Captain’s Jersey 1-29-16

The Vernon Vipers paid special tribute to former captain #18 Chris Crowell with a special ceremony prior to the Vernon-Salmon Arm game. The 27-year old Williams Lake native played four seasons for the Vipers (2005-09) and led the team to an RBC  National Championship in his final season.

Described as one of the most intense players to ever wear a Viper’s Jersey, Crowell still holds the record for most franchise penalty mins. He also earned a scholarship to the University of Alaska-Anchorage where he played four years with the Seawolves.

Crowell, who also had his wife Bree and parents Richard and Shannon on hand as they  watched his #18 jersey  lifted to the rafters along with the National Championship banner he won in 2009. He becomes only the second player to have his number retired…former player Rob Short also had his #20 retired a few years back.
